Mitochondrial Health in Alzheimer’s disease
In a new project, we will investigate mitochondrial health in cellular models of Alzheimer’s disease. Since mitochondria use oxygen for energy generation, we will use the glove box Xvivo model X3 to modulate extracellular oxygen concentrations and study the effects on respiration and metabolism. BioSpherix is a US-based company specialized in equipment to change the atmosphere for cell cultures and related applications.
Xvivo model X3 is a glove box chamber with integrated cell culture incubator, so that cells during growth as well as handling are exposed to the same environment. An attached airlock allows maintenance of the environment while exchanging cell culture material.
